Post Projects Movie Mayhem Part 1

Well, after a harrowing weak struggling with projects and snap tests which were never surprising but always snappy, I finally found freedom to return to the things I like: music and movies. So, after submitting projects, I sat by my laptop and started scrolling through the list of movies I had. In the mood for something familiar, I revisited the works of two Richards back to back. The first was Richard Curtis’ “Love Actually” and next was Linklater’s “School of Rock.” The first is one of those rare times when almost cardboard characters are thoroughly enjoyable primarily because of charming performances from an ensemble cast especially Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant, Thomas Sangster inter alia and some highly memorable lines courtesy Curtis’ screenplay. The second one was perhaps the only family-friendly (and nevertheless witty, sharp and armed with a great OST) tribute to the sheer awesomeness of rock music. Linklater really has a flair for converting cliché ridden plots to classics like “Before Sunrise” and “School of Rock.” This is, of course, when he is not experimenting with movies like “Waking Life” and “A Scanner Darkly.” Basically it was roughly 4 hours of absolute joy with not a care in the world!:D
